On 25 March UNESCO organized a high-level conference on science diplomacy in which the Bulgarian delegation was led by Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva, Vice-President of BAS.

The main topics discussed at the conference were related to the science diplomacy of the 20th century, its role in promoting openness and security of science, building equitable collaborations for the development and responsible application of new technologies and ensuring peaceful use of shared resources.

Corr. Memb. Pasheva also took part in the Global Ministerial Dialogue on 26 March during which issues such as science diplomacy in a changing world, science diplomacy for shared natural and scientific resources, science diplomacy in times of crises, in a world with disruptive technologies, and advancing open and secure science were again discussed.

The Vice-President of BAS made a statement related to the role of scientists in developing strategic documents in priority areas such as energy, climate, demography, artificial intelligence, biodiversity, etc. for the benefit of policy development and political decision-making.
