The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Sofia H.E. Dai Qingli today at the Academy.
During the talks, the long-standing scientific cooperation between BAS and various academic institutions in China was discussed. The two sides expressed readiness to expand and deepen the partnership with the Chinese Academy of Sciences while noting the successful joint work of scientists from BAS and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
A number of joint projects and initiatives implemented by individual BAS units in partnership with Chinese scientific institutions were discussed.
In the light of the successful “Talk with Taikonauts” event held last November by China’s Space Station, prospects for deepening cooperation in the field of space research were discussed.
At the meeting, the possibility of expanding the cultural exchange between Bulgaria and China by organizing thematic exhibitions, joint projects, lectures and other events aimed at promoting the cultural heritage and contemporary artistic life of the two countries was also discussed. The participants in the meeting undertook to exchange information on current funding programs for young scientists and PhD students.
Representatives of the leadership of BAS and representatives of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sofia participated in the meeting.
