The cooperation between BAS and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) in the field of cultural and historical heritage was discussed at a meeting at BAS by the President Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva and the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Huseyn Huseynov. Among the topics of discussion was the role of the institutes of the two academies of sciences in promoting the culture and history of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.
H.E. Huseynov said that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of ANAS. The Academy has been a long-standing partner of BAS with successfully implemented joint projects and a number of joint scientific publications, and a new agreement on scientific cooperation in areas of common interest was signed on 4 July 2023.
Corr. Memb. Slavcheva and H.E. Huseynov discussed the possibilities of signing a protocol to the agreement and launching a campaign to solicit proposals for joint projects between BAS and ANAS.
The Ambassador congratulated Corr. Memb. Slavcheva for her election as the President of BAS and stated the readiness of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to assist the Academy in its relations with the Azerbaijani scientific community and organizations.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Chingiz Garibli, First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
