The President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva attended the official award ceremony of the best universities of Bulgaria for 2024 which was held at the NV Tower in Sofia. The “24 Chasa” newspaper organized the event for the awarding of the “Academic Oscars” – honors for the universities that are first in the rating of higher education institutions by professional fields.
The President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva presented the awards to Prof. Dobri Yarkov – Rector of the Trakia University in Stara Zagora, for the first place in the “Veterinary Medicine” and “Animal Husbandry” directions and to Corr. Memb. Miroslav Dachev – Rector of NATFA, for the first place in the “Theatre and Film Art” direction.
With the participation of the Bulgarian Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, a discussion was held on making Bulgarian universities competitive in the European educational area. Head of the EC Representation in Bulgaria Yordanka Chobanova, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev, Chairman of the Council of Rectors Prof. Miglena Temelkova, Mayor of Sofia Vassil Terziev, Chairman of the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency Prof. Eliza Stefanova, rectors of universities, ministers of education since 1990 and representatives of business and academia attended the ceremony.
