The activities of the BAS institutes were presented by Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva during a meeting with the Head of the EC Representation Yordanka Chobanova. The projects in which the Academy participates through the Horizon Europe programme were discussed. During the conversation, Yordanka Chobanova presented the strategic priorities of the EC for the next five years. Europe’s competitiveness is among the key challenges, and to achieve it investments in innovation and research are needed. Bulgaria and BAS have a strong competitive advantage in basic science, our talents should stay in the country, the EC representative said at the meeting.
Corr. Memb. Slavcheva focused on the expertise of the institutes of the humanities and social sciences which can support and assist state and municipal structures in policy-making, the development of new methodologies, opinions and other expert assessments in the fields of demography, cultural and historical heritage, transport infrastructure, healthcare and quality of life.
