Panels tell the story of the building

On the Day of the National Enlighteners – November 1, two panels were placed in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences which tell the story of the building of BAS. The first part was built as early as the XIX century. The panels are located in the Academy, in two arches after the entrance, and are a tribute to the enlighteners – the 22 actual members of the Academy who took the risk of taking out a state loan for the completion of the northeastern part of the BAS building and guaranteed for it by mortgaging their own, personal properties.

Today, the building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences on 15 November Str. № 1 in Sofia, located between the National Assembly square and St. Alexander Nevsky sq. is a monument of the Bulgarian cultural heritage of national importance.
