A working meeting of the teams of the bilateral cooperation project between the Institute of Optical Materials and Technologies (IOMT-BAS) and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, was held at the Center of Excellence “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies” – Geo Milev Campus. The meeting which took place on 15 August was on “New materials for next generation integrated optics, optoelectronics and spintronics: synthesis and applications”. Coordinators from the Bulgarian side are Prof. DSc Vera Marinova and for Taiwan: Prof. Shiuan Huei Lin.
The event marked 22 years of official scientific research cooperation between the partners with a series of lectures by Bulgarian and Taiwanese scientists. Dr. Suang-Jing Pong from the Science and Technology Department of the Taipei Representative Office in Berlin, Germany was a special guest of the meeting. It was noted that as a result of many years of fruitful joint research by scientists from the two countries, the results have been published in two book chapters, over 60 papers in prestigious scientific journals, numerous invited and poster presentations have been given at international conferences, and there has been continuous exchange and training of students, PhD students and researchers at the two institutions.
