Acad. Damyan Damyanov received the “Key of the City of Shumen” honorary sign at a solemn session of the Municipal Council which was held on the Day of Shumen – May 11. The Mayor of Shumen Municipality Prof. Hristo Hristov and the chairman of the municipal council Asya Asparuhova congratulated the winners of the award for 2024.
The “Key of the City of Shumen” award is given to honorary citizens of Shumen and is the highest award in the award system of the municipality.
Academician Damyan Damyanov has been an honorary citizen of Shumen since 2006. He is a surgeon, he was a Vice-President of BAS, chairman of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, with a contribution to the development of medicine. “Thank you for the award. It is symbolic that it is awarded on this day, May 11 – the Day of Shumen. It is even more symbolic that it is a key of the city which is an expression of great trust,” said Academician Damyanov. Fikret Ince and Alexander Uzunov were honoured with the award.
