Fifth Interdisciplinary Doctoral Forum with International Participation, organized by the PhD Training Center of BAS (TC-BAS) and the Career Center at TC-BAS was held from 16 to 19 April 2024 in Park Hotel Kyustendil, Kyustendil, Bulgaria. The Forum is held under the sign of the 155th anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and with the support of the National Scientific Programme “Development and Promotion of Bulgarian Studies Abroad” funded by the Ministry of Education and Science.
The traditional PhD Forum of the Training Centre of BAS, bringing together young researchers and established scientists, was officially opened on 16 April 2024 by Prof. Dr. Evdokia Pasheva, Vice-President of BAS and Director of the BAS Training Centre.
In three consecutive days, more than 90 participants – PhD students of BAS, Bulgarian and foreign universities and scientific organizations from different scientific fields, shared their research, exchanged scientific knowledge and concepts, thoughts on scientific problems in a wide research range.
The presentations were inspiring of the guest speakers Prof. Marie Vrina-Nikolov, Doctor Honoris Causa of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and Professor of Bulgarian Language and Literature and of Literary Translation Theory at the National Institute for Eastern Languages and Civilizations (INALCO), France “Cartography of Forgotten Multilingualism in Bulgarian Literary Space”, Corr. Memb. Miroslav Dachev, Rector of the “Krastyo Sarafov” National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) and Professor of Semiotics of Art “Miraculous Icons of the Virgin Mary on the Mount Athos related to Bulgarian culture” and Ivaylo Ivanov, Director of Founder Institute Eastern Europe, who demonstrated his skills and knowledge to the PhD students, namely how to transform complex scientific concepts concisely and convincingly in front of a non-specialized audience or potential investors.
The main goal of the forum is to stimulate interdisciplinary thinking and professional contacts between PhD students from different scientific fields as well as to motivate young scientists to implement their creative scientific ideas in business practice.
At the end of the Fifth Interdisciplinary Forum, the best papers presented by the participants were awarded. Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva, DSc, awarded diplomas to seven participants with papers and seven with posters whose presentations were the highest rated by the scientific jury.
