A Memorandum of Understanding between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia was signed today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences by the Presidents, Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, and Acad. Ashot Saghyan. The document covers a wide range of scientific fields, including engineering, biomedicine, biodiversity and ecology, climate change and natural disasters, astronomy and space research, social sciences and humanities. There will be opportunities for exchanges between scientists from the two academies and for the organisation of scientific events.
I am confident in the success of the joint research of our two academies, said Prof. Julian Revalski at the signing ceremony. The President of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia said that the beginning of cooperation could be set with research in the field of molecular biology and microbiology. I am impressed by the team and the equipment I saw yesterday during my visit to the Institute of Microbiology and the Institute of Molecular Biology of BAS, said Acad. Ashot Saghyan.
The official signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Armen Yedigarian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms. Melin Grigoryan, Third Secretary at the Embassy, the Vice-Presidents of BAS Corr. Memb. Stefan Hadjitodorov and Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva and the Scientific Secretary-General of BAS Prof. Neli Koseva.
During his two-day visit to Sofia, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia visited three institutes of BAS: the Institute of Microbiology, the Institute of Molecular Biology and the Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering.
