The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS, and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Prof. Kunsulu Zakarya signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two scientific organisations. The ceremony, which took place in Astana, was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Kazakhstan H.E. Boyan Hadjiev.
Prior to the signing of the document, the heads of the two Academies discussed the opportunities for deepening cooperation between the scientists from Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. Among the priority areas of joint activity are biotechnology, mathematics, materials science, nuclear physics and others.
Before BNA, Prof. Revalski pointed out that the memorandum aims to create a basis for future interaction between the two scientific institutions. It envisages mechanisms for the creation of joint projects involving researchers from both countries, to be mutually funded after approval.
After signing the agreement, Prof. Revalski invited representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan to visit Bulgaria at the earliest opportunity.
