On May 29, a jubilee scientific session “50 YEARS OF PSYCHOLOGY AT BAS: Development of Scientific Knowledge about Man” was held, organised by the Department of Psychology of the Institute for Population and Human Studies – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPHS-BAS), dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the first academic unit of psychology at BAS. The event was attended by public figures, representatives of the academic community and business, collaborators of the Institute and others.
The Forum was opened with a welcome address by the Director of IPHS-BAS, Prof. Antoaneta Hristova, PhD and the Head of the Department of Psychology Assoc. Prof. Maria Trifonova. More than 20 congratulatory addresses were delivered, including from the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, from the Ministry of Education and Science, from the Management of BAS and other academic units, from representatives of the higher education institutions in the country, from the Management of the Institute of Psychology – Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the Board of the Bulgarian Psychological Society in the Republic of Bulgaria and others.
The scientific session started with an introductory lecture by Prof. Dr. Katya Stoycheva on “The Creative Process in Science”. The main scientific achievements, implemented projects, prospects and development directions in six main areas were presented in turn: Personality, Psychology, Labour and organisational psychology, Social psychology, Counseling psychology, Cognitive psychology and methodology of psychological measurements, Developmental psychology and health. The scientific session ended with the awarding of diplomas for special contribution to the academic and institutional development of the Department of Psychology, IPHS-BAS and to the individual psychological fields.
