The Director of the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology at BAS Prof. Dr. Roumiana Preshlenova was awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Department of History and Ethnology at the Faculty of Classics and Humanities of Democritus University of Thrace in Komotini. The award is for her contributions to Balkan Studies and Bulgarian-Greek scientific cooperation.
The ceremony took place on March 29 during a scientific meeting on “Balkan Culture in the Modern Era” with the participation of Bulgarian and Greek scholars. The event was attended by lecturers, students and the Counsellor at the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Thessaloniki, Mr Valentin Pavlov.
