Senior Asst. Prof. Emil Kelevedjiev from the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS is the winner of the award “John Atanasoff – Inspirer and Creator of Talents”. At an official ceremony, President Rumen Radev presented the awards in the 20th edition of the John Atanasoff Presidential Award initiative.

The Head of State welcomed the winners in the five categories of the John Atanasoff Presidential Award for 2022 in the Coat of Arms Hall at Dondukov 2. In front of the guests at the ceremony, Rumen Radev highlighted the significant role of the presidential initiative, which had established itself over the years as an expression of appreciation of our society for the success of the Bulgarian Olympic teams and young scientists in the field of computer science. President Radev expressed gratitude to the teachers of the young scientists and pointed out that their devotion and support is the greatest investment in Bulgaria’s future.

Sen. Asst. Prof. Emil Kelevedjiev is a scientist and long-time lecturer at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS. He is the Chairman of the National Commission on Informatics at the Ministry of Education and Science. He is a long-time coach of the national team for the International Olympiad in Informatics. Sen. Asst. Prof. Emil Kelevedjiev is among the main organizers of national and international competitions, including the International Olympiad in Informatics.

Head of the team that created the electronic platform infos.bg and the Bulgarian Olympic System (BOS) for the preparation of the informatics competitors and for holding competitions from the calendar of the Ministry of Education and Science. He is also the head of the team that created the system for conducting the State matriculation exams in informatics and information technology and the National external assessment in information technology for measuring the digital competences of pupils in X grade.
