The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, participated in the General Assembly of the International Federation for Information Processing – IFIP, which was held on 20 and 21 September in Lille, France.
The new Vice-Presidents of the Federation, Liz Eastwood (New Zealand) and Jacques Sakarovitch (France), were announced, as well as four Councilors, Achim Rettberg (Germany), Jerzy Nawrocki (Poland), Philippe Palanque (France) and Gerrit van der Veer (Netherlands).
Discussions were held on the development of an IFIP Strategic Plan and elections were held for the Member Societies Assembly, an advisory body.
The International Federation for Information Processing – IFIP is the leading international non-governmental organization in the field of information and communication technologies and sciences. It represents scientific societies from over 38 countries and regions, covering 5 continents and over 500 000 scientists.
