He drew attention to the high success rate of Bulgarian high school students in international competitions that assess scientific knowledge and presentation skills in front of different audiences. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and its scientists continue to support pupils tempted by science and research with mentoring and scientific advice.
The webinars “What do we need to know about the main types of malware?”, “New knowledge about DNA structure in gametes” and “Robotics and the Internet of Things” with lecturers Assoc. Prof. Dimitrina Polimirova, Assoc. Prof. Desislava Abadjieva and Dr. Denis Chikurtev also showed the potential of the scientists at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to upgrade the level of secondary education in the country.
The High-School-Students’ Institute of BAS confirmed the invitation to all interested parties to organise on-site thematic activities in the institutes and laboratories of BAS which will enrich the skills and knowledge of Bulgarian pupils in various fields of science. The High-School-Students’ Institute would also be a good partner for the Ministry of Education and Science in developing specific educational modules to be used by teachers and their students, in view of the priorities to make full use of the established STEM classrooms.
The online activities were held with the financial support of the joint program of BAS and MES “Education with Science – Stage 2.”
