Yavor Danov from the Institute of Polymers of BAS has been awarded the “Prof. Ivan Shopov” award for outstanding young scientist in the field of polymers for 2022. The award of the Union of Chemists in Bulgaria was presented at a ceremony on 1 March.
The research of Eng. Yavor Danov is related to the development of polymeric cryogels based on beta-cyclodextrin as a new type of drug carriers characterized by controlled release of various bioactive substances (aripiprazole and cannabidiol). The results have been reported in 2 scientific publications in the journals Pharmaceutics and Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics, and presented at 2 scientific forums.
In the competition participated also the young scientists Nasko Hristov Nachev – PhD student at the Institute of Polymers – BAS, Nikoleta Dragomirova Filipova – PhD student at UCTM – Sofia, Asisst. Daniela Yordanova Atanasova from UCTM – Sofia and Denitsa Valerieva Nikolova – PhD student at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, SU “Kl. Ohridski”.
