Education and science are a top priority for the cabinet because they are the main factors of economic development. This became clear at a meeting of the President of BAS, Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, and Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, held at the Council of Ministers on 10 February.
Prof. Julian Revalski briefed the Prime Minister on the activities of the scientists at BAS and the reforms carried out in recent years. The main concern of the scientists is that their budget is insufficient for the normal functioning of the institution, said the President of BAS. During the talks, the possibilities of developing young scientists and attracting researchers working outside the country as well as the Law on Promotion of Research and Innovation were discussed.
The Prime Minister showed understanding of the issues raised and was adamant that science must and will be supported.
