On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Gotse Delchev’s birth, a commemorative ceremony was held in front of his bust-monument in Sofia. In gratitude, flowers and wreaths were presented on behalf of the President of BAS, the President, the Prime Minister, the Mayor of Sofia, MPs, representatives of the scientific community and institutions. A minute of silence was observed in memory of Gotse Delchev.

The organizers of the tribute in front of the monument of Gotse Delchev in the Borisova Garden are the National Academic and Public Committee “150 years since the birth of Gotse Delchev” and the Macedonian Scientific Institute. A speech was delivered by the Chairman of the Macedonian Scientific Institute, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Nikolov.

The commemoration of the anniversary includes numerous initiatives in 2022, organized by the National Academic and Public Committee “150 Years since the birth of Gotse Delchev”.  Gotse Delchev is one of the most prominent figures of the new Bulgarian history, his name has become a symbol over time, reminded the co-chairman of the committee Acad. Vassil Nikolov.

The committee includes scientific and public institutions directly related to the study of Gotse Delchev’s work. Co-chairmen, besides Acad. Nikolov, are Acad. Vasil Gyuzelev and Acad. Georgi Markov.

Today a scientific round table dedicated to Gotse Delchev is held, organized by the Macedonian Scientific Institute. An exhibition prepared by Assoc. Prof. Alexander Grebenarov from the Institute for Historical Studies at BAS is arranged in the building of the Institute.
