Nine young scientists were awarded in a competition in the field of natural and mathematical sciences, and humanities and social sciences. The awards bear the names of eminent scientists of BAS as well as of foreign members of the Academy, on the occasion of their jubilees.
For the year 2021 the awards are named after Prof. Lotfi Zadeh, a foreign member of BAS, and of Acad. Azaria Polikarov, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of their birth.
Natural and Mathematical Sciences:
First Prize – Merilin Mazen Al Sharif (Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering);
Second Prizes – Daniela Yordanova Avetisyan (Institute of Space Research and Technology) and Iva Vasileva Doycheva (Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research).
Humanities and Social Sciences:
First Prize – Mina Chavdarova Hristova (Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum);
Second Prizes – Adriana Svetlinova Spasova-Topurova (Institute for Literature) and Alexandra Dimitrova Milanova (Institute of Balkan Studies with Centre of Thracology);
Third prizes – Boris Plamenov Boev (Institute for Population and Human Studies), Boryana Vladimirova Vladimirova (Institute for Literature) and Elena Ivanova Borisova (Institute for Literature).
The prizes for the competition are a private donation. The prizes are awarded for the scientific work of a young scholar(s), alone or in co-authorship in a team of young scientists.
