Virtual visit to the Large Hadron Collider tunnel at CERN, Geneva

On 15.12.2021, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Antchev from the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy of BAS showed the tunnel of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and told about the TOTEM/PPS experiment.

CERN (French: Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire) is the European Organization for Nuclear Research and is the world’s largest particle physics laboratory. Bulgaria joined CERN in 1999.

TOTEM is one of the new experiments located in the Large Hadron Collider tunnel. Its programme includes the study of total, elastic and diffractive interaction cross-sections of elementary particles at high energies.
