In its new edition “Roads of Balkan Icon-Painters” the Institute of Art Studies of BAS will show the richness of the Balkan church murals from the post-Byzantine period. The presentation will take place from 17.00 on 13 October in “Prof. Marin Drinov” hall of BAS.
The book describes and studies 29 churches and their murals from Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania. The collection is realized within the National Science Programme “Cultural-Historical Heritage, National Memory and Social Development” of the Ministry of Education and Science by a team from the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences headed by Prof. Biserka Penkova, PhD.
