An exhibition dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the arrival of Mkhailo Dragomanov in Bulgaria was opened on 18 December in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The exposition has been arranged by the Scientific Archives of BAS and is conducted under the auspices of the President of BAS, Prof. Julian Revalski, full member of the Academy and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria, H.E. Vitaliy Moskalenko. The opening was also attended by the ambassadors of Poland, Serbia, Moldova and Russia.
Prof. Mikhailo Dragomanov has great merits to the Bulgarian education and culture, said the Vice-President of BAS corr.-mem. Vassil Nikolov at the opening. He emphasized that he hoped this exhibition would be our contribution to the consolidation of Bulgarian-Ukrainian relations.
The posters represent the life and scientific work of the great Ukrainian folklorist, linguist, writer and philosopher. Along with numerous documentary evidences, the exhibition presents little-known photographs of the Dragomanov family and his son-in-law, Prof. Ivan Shishmanov. A special board has been dedicated to the famous writer Lesya Ukrainka (Larysa Kosach), a relative of the scientist.
