Corr.-mem. Prof. Alexander Kostov, DSc of the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology was awarded the Order of the Star of Italy (Ordine della Stella d’Italia). The high state distinction is for his contribution to the development of relations between the two countries in the field of science and culture. The Order was bestowed by H.E. Stefano Baldi. Corresponding Member Alexander Kostov has a number of publications on the modern and contemporary history of the Balkans and on the development of Italy’s relations with the countries of the region in particular. For ten years he has been the head ofa bilateral research project at IBSCT with the University Roma Tre (Rome) and more recently with the Institute for Studies on the Mediterranean (Naples) at the National Research Council.
