Five areas of cooperation were discussed by scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences at a joint meeting held on 18 April 2019 at the Academy.

The 11-member delegation from CASS, led by its Vice-President, Prof. Gao Peiyong, met with the President of BAS, Academician Julian Revalski, and part of the members of the Board. Additional cooperative activities were discussed beyond the formal agreement signed between the two academies in 2015. The scientists agreed on five areas of cooperation: exchange of young scientists; possibility to work with post-doctoral students; exchange and cooperation in the field of humanities; an opportunity to be published in the scientific journals of the two academies; collaboration on the 16 + 1 cooperation platforms and “One Belt, One Road”. The meeting was also attended by directors and scientists from the Economic Research Institute, the Institute for State and Law, the Institute for Population and Human Studies and the Institute for the Study of Societies and Knowledge.

Indeed, cooperation with your three academies is long-lasting, both with CASS and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Acad. Revalski said, and stressed out that we hoped to find ways to enrich it with this meeting.

CASS is China’s largest research center in the sphere of economics, social sciences, regional and international affairs. The Academy prepares materials for the Chinese government’s current and strategic development issues of China, the region and the world. The Academy has 38 research institutes and 180 professional research centers, employing 57 academicians, 133 correspondent members, over 3300 experts and scientists in the following areas: literature and philosophy, history, economics, law and social sciences, international research. Three hundred country-wide indicators are constantly monitored, and evaluations and recommendations are given on the basis thereof.
