A public discussion on "Cultivating influence: cultural diplomacy between France and Bulgaria" was held on 7 February in the “Ivan Geshov” Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The photodocumentary exhibition "The pogrom in Bosilegrad 15-16 May 1917" by Associate Professor Dr. Angel Dzhonev from the Institute for Historical Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was opened on January 29 at the National Assembly. The exposition was organized with the assistance of the Bulgarian Cultural Information Centre in Bosilegrad. It should be recalled that on 15 and 16 May 1917 a Serbian detachment led by the voivode Kosta Pećanac penetrated the pre-war borders of the Kingdom of Bulgaria attacking the Bosilegrad region. As a result of the attack, 35 civilian Bulgarians were killed, the property of 317 households was destroyed, and the damage was estimated at over 2.5 million leva at the time. Finds from two of the most emblematic archaeological sites in 2024: the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica near the locality of Rupite and Mound 1 in the village of Kapitan Petko Voyvoda, Topolovgrad municipality, were presented to journalists by the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM at BAS) at a press conference. The "Bulgarian Archaeology" exhibition is traditionally organized by NAIM-BAS on the occasion of the Day of the Archaeologist on February 14 and presents the best of the previous archaeological season. Нарисуван е от художниците Иван Монев и Мария Матовска върху северната фасада на сградата на 93-то средно училище „Александър Теодоров-Балан“ на столичната улица „Гео Милев“ №32. The large-format mural "Early Neolithic settlement Slatina-Sofia (6100 - 5500 BC)” has been presented to the public today. It was painted by the artists Ivan Monev and Maria Matovska on the northern facade of the building of the 93rd secondary school "Alexander Theodorov-Balan" on the capital's Geo Milev Street № 32. It was executed as part of the "Early Neolithic Settlement Slatina-Sofia: at the Dawn of European Civilization"  project of the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of BAS funded by the Culture Program [...]

On 15 November 2024, the Polish Institute in Sofia hosted the award ceremony of the “Prof. Wanda Smochowska-Petrova" Prize, organized by the Institute of Literature at BAS and the Polish Institute in Sofia. Established in 2017, the award was presented for the second time in connection with Poland's Independence Day - 11 November. Prof. Dr. Wanda Smochowska-Petrova (1919-2011) was a Polish woman who emigrated to Bulgaria during World War II. She devoted more than 60 years of her creative career to the study of Bulgarian literature, the links between the two cultures in the Bulgarian National Revival period and translated into Bulgarian classic works by Polish writers.
