Golden Plaquette of BAS for the Institute of Balkan Studies and Centre for Thracology

  The Institute of Balkan Studies and Center of Thracology of BAS (IBSCT-BAS) celebrated 60 years since its foundation with a party in the "Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of the Academy. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, presented an honorary plaquette - golden - to the Director, Prof. Roumiana Preshlenova. Presentation of the new book “Macedonia: History and Culture from Antiquity to Today”

Premiere of the new book in two volumes "Macedonia: History and Culture from Antiquity to Today", published by the Prof. Marin Drinov Publishing House of BAS took place on 2 April at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The book was created by scientists from several institutes and universities, said Acad. Vassil Nikolov who thanked all 35 authors of the two-volume book as well as the academic publishing house. He stressed that the publication was created under the Academy's programme for monographic studies and collections dedicated to the history and culture of the Bulgarian diaspora outside the country's political borders. Achievements of the Archaeological Year 2023

Assoc. Prof. Marijana Stamova, PhD from IBSCT-BAS awarded by the Military History Commission

Prof. Dr. Marijana Stamova from the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was awarded by the Military History Commission with a prize for research on Balkan military history and rapprochement of the countries and peoples of the region. Award for outstanding publication in the field of Bulgarian studies

Prof. Dr. Ana Luleva of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum has been awarded the John D. Bell Memorial Book Prize for outstanding publications in the field of Bulgarian Studies by the Bulgarian Studies Association for her monograph "Culture of (Dis)Trust in Bulgaria. Anthropological Perspectives”. The prize is awarded jointly to Prof. Luleva and Prof. Theodora Dragostinova for the book "The Cold War from the Margins: A Small Socialist State on the Global Cultural Scene”.
