Assoc. Prof. Marijana Stamova, PhD from IBSCT-BAS awarded by the Military History Commission

Prof. Dr. Marijana Stamova from the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was awarded by the Military History Commission with a prize for research on Balkan military history and rapprochement of the countries and peoples of the region. The award was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Military History Commission Ivan Sapunjiev at a ceremony held on 23 January. Inauguration of an “Interactive Map of the Arts in Bulgaria” laboratory at the Institute of Art Studies

On 19 December, the new laboratory "Interactive Map of the Arts in Bulgaria", built and equipped under the BG05M2OP001-1.001-0001 "Creation and development of “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence" project and funded under the "Science and Education for Smart Growth" Operational Programme 2014-2020, Priority Axis 1 "Research and Technological Development", co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)" was inaugurated at the Institute of Art Studies (IAS) - BAS. Award for outstanding publication in the field of Bulgarian studies

Prof. Dr. Ana Luleva of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum has been awarded the John D. Bell Memorial Book Prize for outstanding publications in the field of Bulgarian Studies by the Bulgarian Studies Association for her monograph "Culture of (Dis)Trust in Bulgaria. Anthropological Perspectives”. The prize is awarded jointly to Prof. Luleva and Prof. Theodora Dragostinova for the book "The Cold War from the Margins: A Small Socialist State on the Global Cultural Scene”. Presentation of the results of the participation of the Institute of Art Studies in the project “Creation and development of “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence”

On 12 December 2023, the results of the participation of the Institute for Art Studies (IAS) in the project "Creation and development of “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence" funded under the "Science and Education for Smart Growth" Operational Programme were presented. It focuses on the discovery and promotion of cultural heritage in Bulgaria and aims both to provide better conditions for conducting high-level research and to introduce new technologies in the field to enhance the potential of applied science. The share of the supranational identity of Bulgarian citizens is growing but national identity remains the leading one

These are the results of a nationally representative survey conducted by scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences The contemporary identity of Bulgarian citizens is hybrid in nature, combining elements of national, supranational, ethnic and local identity. The share of identification with supranational structures is growing, with 30.8% of respondents perceiving themselves as "EU citizen". This is shown by the results of a nationally representative survey conducted by scientists from BAS within the research project "National and European Dimensions of the Contemporary Identity of Bulgarians", funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund. The leading place, with the largest share of 84.7%, is occupied by the national identity but its identification coordinates are changing. Solemn celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Institute for Literature

  The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, presented a GOLDEN honorary plaquette to the Director of the Institute for Literature Assoc. Prof. Penka Vatova on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of founding of the Institute. The celebration was held today at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of the Academy. The Institute for Literature has established itself as one of the most important research centers of literature in Bulgaria. As scholars, you are confidently using new technologies in the creation of literary corpora, said in his address Prof. Revalski.
