120 years since the birth of John Atanasoff
The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences celebrated the 120th anniversary of the birth of John Atanasoff, who created the first digital electronic computer, with a scientific session held at the “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of the Academy. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, opened the event by stressing that John Atanasoff's invention was undoubtedly the greatest in technological terms of the 20th century. In 1983, John Atanasoff received the highest title for a foreign scientist and was elected a foreign member of BAS, said Acad. Revalski.
