The opportunities of science to support new industries and education were discussed at a meeting with the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev by scientists from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT) and the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems (IEES). The scientists presented the scientific activities and the latest developments with international funding that they are currently working on. Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are participating in the Green Transition Forum 5.0 which has opened today and will last until 20 June at the Sofia Event Center. Competitiveness and innovation in Central and Eastern European countries are the focus of the largest transformation and development event in the region. The final of the seventh edition of the "My thesis in 180 seconds" international PhD competition was held on 28 May at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. Eight PhD students participated in the competition. They were evaluated by a jury with members Corr. Memb. The “Prof. Marin Drinov" prize for young scientists and "Ivan Evstratiev Geshov" for youngest scientists of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were awarded during the solemn assembly on the occasion of May 24 which was held at the Academy. Seventeen young scientists were awarded for their achievements. The President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva presented the awards. The sixth Interdisciplinary Doctoral Forum was officially opened on 13 May 2025 at the Grand Hotel Velingrad. The event is organized by the PhD Training Center - BAS and the Career Center at TC-BAS and will last until 16 May 2025.
