The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences sign a cooperation agreement

  A new Agreement for bilateral scientific cooperation was signed by the Presidents of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member, and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Acad. Isa Habibbayli. The ceremony took place at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, in the presence of the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Bulgaria H. E. Dr. Hussein Husseinov The agreement aims to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two academies and expand relations in various scientific fields. A new 1.5-m telescope explores space from NAO Rozhen from 1 July

  The modern facility was opened 42 years after the construction of the observatory The new robotic telescope of the Institute of Astronomy - BAS was officially unveiled at 12:00 on July 1 on the territory of the National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen. In the solemn ceremony, connected with the newest acquisition for the astronomical community in Bulgaria, participated the Prime Minister Acad. A new experiment with a Bulgarian instrument from the Liulin series on Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo spaceplane

Virgin Galactic company has conducted its first commercial mission into suborbital space with the SpaceShipTwo spaceplane. Memorandum of Cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan

  The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS, and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Prof. Kunsulu Zakarya signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two scientific organisations. The ceremony, which took place in Astana, was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Kazakhstan H.E. Boyan Hadjiev. Prior to the signing of the document, the heads of the two Academies discussed the opportunities for deepening cooperation between the scientists from Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. Exhibition “Cajal, 170 years”

  An exhibition "Cajal, 170 years", dedicated to the Spanish Nobel laureate Santiago Ramon y Cajal, was opened today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The exhibition is on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the Spanish scientist and the 90th anniversary of the opening of the Cajal Institute. Santiago Ramon y Cajal is considered the founder of neuroscience for his discoveries about the mechanisms that govern the morphology and connecting processes of nerve cells. This exhibition tells the story of Cajal's remarkable life, his great contributions and dedication to science. BAS awarded 22 young scientists for 24 May

A solemn assembly on the occasion of the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of the Slavonic literature was held at the “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of BAS.  During the ceremony the awards for young scientists "Professor Marin Drinov" and for the youngest scientists "Ivan Evstratiev Geshov" for 2022 were presented. The prizes are awarded by the General Assembly (GA) for achievements in nine scientific fields. The President of the GA, Corr. Member. Evelina Slavcheva and Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova presented the awards. Twemty-two young scientists were awarded for their achievements in the past year.
