Pythagoras Awards for scientists of BAS

    The 2023 Pythagoras Awards of the Ministry of Education and Science were presented at a solemn ceremony held on May 19 at the University of National and World Economy. Two scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were awarded the prestigious prize. An established scientist in the field of social sciences and humanities is sociologist Prof. Pepka Boyadjieva, DSc from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of BAS. In the category for established scientist in the field of natural and engineering sciences the award goes to Prof. Stoycho Yazadzhiev, DSc, from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS who is a corresponding member of the Academy. Postcard 90 years since the birth of Svetlin Rusev

  The project of "Postcard 90 years since the birth of Svetlin Rusev" was presented at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The artist Yana Aneva is the author of the project which includes the work "Vanga" 1990 by Svetlin Rusev (1933-2018). The ceremony is part of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the great Bulgarian artist, academician of BAS. The culmination will take place on June 12 at BAS, said the President of the Academy Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS. BAS develops a platform for collaboration with business

More than 350 participants in the third edition of "Science for Business" A platform for cooperation with business, which will present the developments of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, is prepared by the Joint Innovation Centre of BAS. Japanese cherry trees at the Geological Institute of BAS for Earth Day

  The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences celebrated the World Earth Day at the initiative of the Geological Institute (GI-BAS) on 21 April. Three cherry trees were planted in front of the Institute's building with the kind assistance of the Japanese Embassy in Bulgaria. The Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Narahira, and the Director of the Geological Institute of BAS Assoc. BAS continues to help Ukrainian scientists

  The programme of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support scientists from Ukraine will continue. This was said by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, at a meeting with Ukrainian scientists working in the Academy's institutes. After the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, BAS provided its recreational facilities for accommodation and announced a donation campaign for Ukrainian refugees. The meeting was held on the initiative of the scientists from Ukraine, who thanked the leadership of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for their help.
