Scientists of BAS participate in the youth festival “Hello Space! Bulgaria Calling!”

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences participated in the third edition of the Bulgarian Youth Festival "Hello Space! Bulgaria Calling!" which took place on 29 June in Sofia Tech Park. Its aim is to spark the imagination of children and young people in Bulgaria, to encourage them to dream and plan, to pursue careers in science, technologies, engineering, art and mathematics and to find solutions through science. The event was organised by the national Space & STEAM Cluster and the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, with the support of the US Embassy in Bulgaria and NASA (Houston). Memorandum of Cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan

  The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS, and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Prof. Kunsulu Zakarya signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two scientific organisations. The ceremony, which took place in Astana, was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Kazakhstan H.E. Boyan Hadjiev. Prior to the signing of the document, the heads of the two Academies discussed the opportunities for deepening cooperation between the scientists from Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. The Director of RIKEN Europe Office visited BAS

  The Director of RIKEN Europe Office Dr. Toshiyasu Ichioka visited the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences at the invitation of the President Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS. RIKEN is the largest research institution in Japan, renowned for high quality research in a diverse range of scientific disciplines. Dr. Ichioka met on 18 April with Prof. Julian Revalski and the Chief Scientific Secretary Prof. Neli Koseva. During their conversation, the RIKEN Director was introduced to the scientific activities and structure of BAS. After the meeting, Dr. Ichioka gave a lecture to the scientists of the Academy in “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. BAS continues to help Ukrainian scientists

  The programme of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support scientists from Ukraine will continue. This was said by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, at a meeting with Ukrainian scientists working in the Academy's institutes. After the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, BAS provided its recreational facilities for accommodation and announced a donation campaign for Ukrainian refugees. The meeting was held on the initiative of the scientists from Ukraine, who thanked the leadership of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for their help. A total of 17 Ukrainian scientists from Kharkiv, Kiev, Melitopol and Severodonetsk are continuing their professional development in units of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Meeting of Prof. Revalski with the Ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria

Cooperation with the "Houari Boumediene" University of Science and Technology in Algeria was discussed at a meeting between the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, and the Ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria H.E. Mrs. Baya Bensmail. During the conversation Prof. Revalski presented the activities of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, its history and structure. As an example of successful cooperation H.E. Mrs. Bensmail pointed out the exhibition on the occasion of the Independence Day of Algeria, held at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of BAS last year. Award for BAS in the national competition “Building of the Year 2022”

The Central Building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1, 15th November Street, Sofia) has been awarded a special prize "Conservation and restoration of facades/artistic elements and artistic lighting" in the category "Social infrastructure - culture, science and education" in the National Competition "Building of the Year 2022". The annual awards were presented at a gala ceremony on 15 December at Sofia Event Center. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, received the award. Investor of the project is the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences – architect: Milena Krachanova, restorer: Aglika Ikonomova, artistic lighting: Rosen Yovchev and Eng.
