Four awards for young scientists of BAS

The Vice-President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evdokiya Pasheva presented four prizes to young scientists who were awarded in the competition for the best publication in the field of humanities and social sciences, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Nayden Gerov. Kalina Tomova from the Institute of Art Studies received first prize in the competition. The second prize was awarded to Darina Boykina from the Institute of Art Studies. The jury awarded two third prizes to Julia Popcheva from the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies and two young researchers from the National Archaeological Institute with Museum - Eva Tonkova and Veselina Dimitrova. The activities of Bulgarian scientists in European projects and valuable archival publications were presented by BAS to Commissioner Iliana Ivanova

   The participation of scientific units of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in large-scale international projects was discussed at a meeting of representatives of the Academy with the EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova. The Secretary General of BAS Prof. Neli Koseva presented an update on the results of the multilateral activities of the scientists, the implementation of projects both under the Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation of the European Union as well as funded from national sources. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is actively involved in scientific capacity building, coordinating 23 out of 51 infrastructure sites under the National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure. Scientists of BAS with awards for high scientific achievements

  Three scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences received the "Marin Drinov" honorary medal on a ribbon at a solemn assembly on the occasion of the National Enlighteners Day. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, presented the awards. Prof. Pepka Boyadjieva received the award for high scientific achievements in the field of sociology of education. Prof. Vladko Murdarov was awarded for his significant contributions in the field of Bulgarian and Slavic linguistics. 78 Bulgarian scientists are among the best in the world, according to the Stanford ranking

  According to this year's ranking for overall career development of scientists (known as the Stanford ranking), 78 Bulgarian researchers are among the top two percent of top scientists in the world. Sixteen of them are members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (academicians and correspondent members), and another 33 are scientists from the Academy. The ranking is compiled annually based on an analysis of the scientific metrics of about 8 400 000 scientists from 176 subfields of science who have publications in Scopus, i.e. it sees 2% of proven scientists. A separate ranking is prepared for scientific developments in the previous year. It includes a total of 56 Bulgarian scientists in the top 2%. Visit of a delegation from Tokai University to BAS

The Vice Presidents of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evdokiya Pasheva and Corr. Memb. Stefan Hadjidodorov, today discussed the Bulgarian-Japanese relations in the field of science with representatives of Tokai University and the "Sts. Cyril and Methodius” international foundation. 154 years since the founding of BAS

  A solemn assembly on the occasion of the 154th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was held today at the “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of BAS. The President of the General Assembly of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva greeted the scientists and guests at the celebration.
