International Forum “Brand Bulgaria – Touch the Wonders”

The 2023 Award for Discovery was given to Prof. Lyudmil Vagalinski from NAIM-BAS The third international forum "Brand Bulgaria - Touch the Wonders" was held at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The event was organized by the Cultural Heritage Society (Europa Nostra Bulgaria) in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture and under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel. “Academician Rostislaw Kaischew” Award for Young Scientist

The ICCGE20 International Scientific Conference on Crystal Growth and Epitaxy with over 600 participants took place in Naples from 30 July to 4 August. The conference covered all aspects of crystal growth, epitaxy, new materials with applications in photonics, optoelectronics, energy storage, biomedicine, cleantech, etc. On the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the birth of Academician Rostislaw Kaischew, the Scientific Council of the Institute of Physical Chemistry of BAS, together with the ICCGE20 organizing committee, established an award for the best oral presentation by a young scientist at the conference. 110 years since the birth of the biologist Acad. Radoy Popivanov (1913-2010)

110 years since the birth of the scientist-biologist and geneticist Acad. Radoy Popivanov (1913-2010) are celebrated on 9 August 2023. Radoy Popivanov was born in 1913 in Pleven. In 1939 he graduated in medicine in Sofia. As an assistant professor at the Medical Faculty of Sofia University he worked on problems of seroanthropology, medical biology and genetics under Metodiy Popov, and specialized in internal medicine under Konstantin Chilov. He was director of the Institute of Medical Biology of the Medical Academy and of the Central Laboratory of Genetics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences sign a cooperation agreement

  A new Agreement for bilateral scientific cooperation was signed by the Presidents of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member, and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Acad. A new experiment with a Bulgarian instrument from the Liulin series on Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo spaceplane

Virgin Galactic company has conducted its first commercial mission into suborbital space with the SpaceShipTwo spaceplane.
