Acad. Damyan Damyanov receives the “Key of Shumen city”

Acad. Damyan Damyanov received the "Key of the City of Shumen" honorary sign at a solemn session of the Municipal Council which was held on the Day of Shumen - May 11. The Mayor of Shumen Municipality Prof. Hristo Hristov and the chairman of the municipal council Asya Asparuhova congratulated the winners of the award for 2024. The "Key of the City of Shumen" award is given to honorary citizens of Shumen and is the highest award in the award system of the municipality. Conference “The Atlantic Codex, testimony to the life of Leonardo – a multifaceted and complex mind and genius”

A conference on "The Atlantic Codex, a testimony to the life of Leonardo - a multifaceted and complex mind and genius" was held at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Monsignor Francesco Braschi, Doctor of Sciences of the Ambrosiana Library of Milan presented the concept of innovation and modern research as an innate characteristic of human nature from the perspective of a researcher and a priest. BERON is the first Bulgarian digital dictionary

The Bulgarian Language Resources Online platform BERON was presented today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The digitized version of the Official Spelling Dictionary of the Bulgarian Language is its first product in which words are voiced with their correct pronunciation. A wealth of information has been added on the grammatical features of the words, on the doublets and homonyms in the literary language. Prof. Dr. Ruska Stancheva from the Institute for Bulgarian Language of BAS (IBL-BAS) is the leader and initiator of the BERON project. The content is developed by linguists from the Modern Bulgarian Language Section of IBL-BAS and includes about 2 400 000 forms. Earliest evidence of cinnabar use 5000 years ago

A significant discovery was made during the rescue archaeological excavations of a burial mound in the village of Kriva Bara, Vratsa region. The excavations were financed by the National Archaeological Institute with Museum under a contract with Bulgartransgaz EAD for the preservation of the archaeological heritage during the construction of a gas pipeline connecting the underground gas storage Chiren with the existing gas transmission network. They were conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stefan Alexandrov (NAIM - BAS). The team members are Prof. Piotr Wlodarchak (Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology - Cracow) and Dr. Rosica Manova (expert restorer). “Marin Drinov” honorary medal for Corr. Memb. Atanas Kovachev

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences honoured Corr. Memb. Atanas Kovachev with the "Marin Drinov" honorary medal. The Vice-Chairman of the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members of BAS, Acad. Damyan Damyanov, presented the award at a ceremony held on 29 April. The honorary medal is awarded to Corr.
