Bulgarian participation in the “My thesis in 180 seconds” competition

Sylvia Varhoshkova, PhD student at the Institute of Molecular Biology at BAS, represented Bulgaria at the 11th International Final of the competition “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” which took place on October 2 in Bucharest, Romania. After winning the first prize at the national final of the competition which took place on 28 May this year at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS, Sylvia Varhoshkova presented her dissertation topic “Role and dynamics of FET proteins at sites of complex DNA damage” to an international audience. The prestigious event, organised by the Francophone University Agency (AUF), brought together 20 young scientists from different parts of the world to compete for the grand prize. “Skills for Labour Markets in the Green and Digital Transition” international conference

The international conference "Skills for Labour Markets in the Green and Digital Transition", part of the European research project SkiLMeeT (https://skilmeet.eu/) which brings together 70 participants from 23 countries is taking place in the central building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences - BAS. INFRAMAT international conference – Ancient and Advanced Materials: Bridging Science and Cultural Heritage

The INFRAMAT - Ancient and Advanced Materials: Bridging Science and Cultural Heritage International Conference was held from 23 to 27 September at the Golden Sands Resort. The Forum was opened by Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva, DSc, Vice-President of BAS, and Ms Yanita Zherkova, Director of the Science Directorate, Ministry of Education and Science. Leading specialists and researchers from the country and abroad discussed current topics, innovations and best practices in the field of material science, archaeology, safeguarding and preservation of cultural heritage. BAS honors the Federation of Scientific and Technical Unions with “Honorary Plaquette GOLD”

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has awarded the Federation of Scientific and Technical Unions in Bulgaria (FSTU) with the “Honorary Plaquette GOLD”. The award is for the overall contribution of FSTU in the development, promotion and support of scientific and technical achievements and on the occasion of its 140th anniversary. The plaquette has been presented on behalf of the Academy's leadership by Prof. Ivan Georgiev, Scientific Secretary of the “Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies” Division. Acad. Vladimir Zarev with the “Hristo G. Danov” Grand Prize

Academician Vladimir Zarev is the winner of the "Hristo G. Danov" Grand Prize for overall contribution to the national literary culture. The literary awards are given in eight categories, and the grand prize is determined by the Minister of Culture. Minister Marian Bachev presented the award to Acad. Zarev at a meeting held yesterday in his office. The official award ceremony for the other winners in the different categories was held on 22 September in Plovdiv. Acad. Dr. Alexander Apostolov from the US Academy of Engineering with a lecture at BAS

A lecture on the digital transformation of relay protection and automation systems was delivered today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences by Dr. Alexander Apostolov. In the "Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall, he spoke about his professional path and achievements which became an occasion to be nominated and elected as a member of the American Academy of Engineering. "We are extremely proud that there are such Bulgarians in the world.
