Open Day of the CLaDA-BG e-Infrastructure for Bulgarian language and cultural heritage

On 24 October 2025, an Open Day of the CLaDA-BG e-Infrastructure for Bulgarian Language and Cultural Heritage was held in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. The event took place on the occasion of the LALDA Day at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. At the opening of the event, solemn speeches were held by Prof. Shtelian Shterionov, Vice-President of BAS, and Ms. Zornitsa Georgieva, expert at the Science Directorate, Ministry of Education and Science. Prof. Nikolay Gabrovsky is the Doctor of the Year for 2025

The highest professional award of the Bulgarian Medical Union was received by Corr. Memb. Prof. Nikolay Gabrovsky during an official ceremony at the National History Museum (NHM) on 20 October 2025. The award was presented to him by Vice President Iliana Iotova. “Anyone who has chosen this path is not waiting for titles or awards because for him success is measured by the lives saved, for which there are no units of measure,” she said. In 2021, Prof. Gabrovsky became the youngest corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) in the field of “Medical Sciences”. MUSICORUM VIA: winners of academic competitions on the stage at BAS

Concert of students-winners of academic competitions of the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Music Academy, part of the “MUSICORUM VIA. Two Academies - One Stage” initiative took place on 20 October at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov welcomed the guests. Enthusiasm, flowers and applause among the audience were aroused by the performances of the participants in the concert evening. Deyan Tabashki, Jia Hao, Yoana Zadikyan, Sima Chi, Teodora Tosheva, Qi Yixuan, Victor Teodosiev and Yan Aoxue presented works by C.W.Gluck, F. Chopin, G.  Puccini, G. Enescu, P. Vladigerov, P. Prof. Radostina Stoyanova is awarded the Pythagoras Grand Prize

  The winner of the Pythagoras Grand Prize for lifetime contribution to science is Prof. Radostina Stoyanova from the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of BAS. The official ceremony for the highest awards for science of the Ministry of Education and Science took place on 14 October and was opened by the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev. It was held for the 17th consecutive year, with 52 scientists applying for the eight categories. Minister Valchev presented the award to Prof. Radostina Stoyanova who had laid the foundation for the development of a new scientific field in the country - the chemistry of materials for clean and affordable energy storage. The eminent Italian palaeoslavist and Bulgarian language scholar Prof. Alessandro Maria Bruni with a diploma of foreign member of BAS

The eminent Italian palaeoslavist and Bulgarian scholar Prof. Alessandro Maria Bruni was honored by the President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, with a diploma of foreign member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The ceremony took place today in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of the Academy.  It is a great honour for me and I accept my election not only as the highest appreciation for my scientific contribution, but also as an incentive to continue my research together with Bulgarian colleagues so that there will be even greater development of this very important discipline - Old Bulgarian Studies or Palaeoslavistics, Prof. Bruni said with gratitude. The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov participates in a UAI forum

  The 93rd General Assembly of the Union Academique Internationale (UAI) is being held in Mainz, Germany, 13-14 October 2025. Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov is the delegate of BAS in the international organization. He is the head of the only Bulgarian project under the auspices of UAI - Corpuses of Christian Orthodox Painting of the Ottoman Period which involves researchers from the Romanian Academy, the Albanian Academy of Sciences and SASU as well as from BAS. The forum will evaluate all the long-term projects in operation which number approximately 100. More than 100 academies from all over the world and from 63 countries are participating in the UAI.
