A memorial prayer for the founders of the Bulgarian Learned Society (BLS), the donors of the Ascension of Christ Church, the clergy and Hristo Botev was celebrated in Braila, Romania, during the second day of the official visit of the delegation of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences led by the President, Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS. New Agreement on Scientific Cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Romanian Academy

A new Agreement on Scientific Cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and the Romanian Academy (RA) was signed on 17 September in Bucharest by the Presidents of the two Academies, Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, and Acad. Ioan-Aurel Pop. With this act the two-day official visit of a delegation from BAS dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian Learned Society (today BAS), started. HAPPY 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF ACADEMICIAN VASSIL KAZANDJIEV!

Acad. VASSIL KAZANDJIEV is among the brightest names that have established themselves as contemporary classics in Bulgarian music. He graduated from the Music Academy in Sofia (1957), studied composition in the class of Prof. Pancho Vladigerov and conducting under Prof. Vladi Simeonov. In 1957, while still a student at the Academy, he won the laureate title for his Symphonietta for large orchestra at the Sixth International Youth Festival in Moscow, Dmitri Shostakovich was the chairman of the jury. He began his career as a conductor at the Sofia Opera (1957-1964). In 1962, he headed the Sofia Soloists chamber orchestra and worked as its chief conductor until 1978. International School of Condensed Matter Physics

From 26 to 30 August 2024, the 23rd International School on Condensed Matter Physics (ISCMP'23) was held at the Frederic Joliot-Curie International House of Scientists. With the scientific forum entitled "Modern Advances in New Materials and their Applications", the Institute of Solid State Physics celebrated the 155th anniversary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski meets with Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil

His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil received the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, in the Holy Synod Palace on August 13. During the meeting, Patriarch Daniil thanked the President of BAS for the assistance provided in the holding of the Fourth Patriarchal Electoral Church Council, highlighting the traditionally good relations between the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Revalski invited the Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to take part in the celebrations to be held in October on the occasion of the 155th anniversary of BAS. Award in theoretical and mathematical physics for Acad. Ivan Todorov

Academician Ivan Todorov has been awarded the Bogolyubov Prize in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics for 2024 by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna (JINR). The prize is awarded once every five years in connection with the anniversary of the birth of N. N. Bogolyubov (1909-1992). Academician Ivan Todorov is one of the world's most eminent Bulgarian physicists. He is known for his contributions to mathematical physics, in particular quantum field theory. He has made significant contributions in the field of Axiomatic Quantum Field Theory and two-dimensional conformal theories and was among the founders of the school of mathematical physics in Bulgaria.
