The first exhibition of the series "Contemporary Art at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences" was opened on 29 May at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The exhibition is by Sasho Stoitzov and is entitled "Messy Beads". The exhibition was initiated and opened by the President of the General Assembly of BAS Prof. Vassil Kirov. "The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has a serious collection of classical Bulgarian art. The Vice-President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva has met with the Director of the Regional Office for Central and Eastern Europe of the Francophone University Agency (AUF), Prof. Laure Castin. During the conversation which took place at the Academy on 28 May, Corr. Memb. Pasheva presented the activities of BAS aimed at training young scientists and PhD students carried out by the Training Centre at BAS and the Career Centre of it. Corr. Memb. A letter-petition from the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members of BAS for the termination of homeopathy teaching in vocational schools was handed over by the Chairman of the Forum against Pseudoscience at AACM Acad. A solemn assembly on the occasion of May 24 was held today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov opened the celebration in the "Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall with an excerpt in Old Bulgarian from "On the Letters" by Chernorizets Hrabar. An open-air exhibition on the Lovers' Bridge at the National Palace of Culture marked the 15th anniversary of the “For Women in Science” National Programme. The event acknowledged 39 outstanding Bulgarian women scientists who had been honoured over the years with the prestigious award presented in partnership between the National Commission for UNESCO - Bulgaria, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and L'Oréal Bulgaria. Among the recipients of this prestigious recognition are 18 women scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences whose work and achievements have contributed to the prestige of Bulgarian science worldwide.   Awards of the Todorov Foundation were presented for the first time at a ceremony held on 20 May at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. The Foundation is named after the famous Bulgarian physicist Acad. Ivan T. Todorov (1933 - 2025) and aims to encourage the development of mathematical physics and mathematics in Bulgaria, as well as the creation of remarkable works of fiction in Bulgarian. The first winners of the prize were named during his lifetime by the patron of the Foundation, and for 2025 they are: Corr. Memb.
