The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov met today with the Director of the "Marin Drinov" Center for Bulgarian Studies at the University of Kharkiv Dr. Vladimir Salenkov. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Mikhail Stanchev, a former lecturer in Kharkiv, who since the beginning of the hostilities in Ukraine is part of the Ukrainian scholars whom BAS has offered to continue their academic research in our country. "In Kharkiv, we are proud that our city is the birthplace of Prof. Marin Drinov”, Dr. Salenkov said during the conversation. Award ceremony of the finalists concluded the "Best Youth Startup in Bulgaria - 2025" competition organized by the Fund of Funds and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski. The event took place on 23 April in the Aula of Sofia University. After a 3-month intensive training and mentoring program, a one-month competition in 5 stages and a serious competition between 260 teams, a jury of 20 professionals selected 11 winners in the three categories: Business Stars (regional small businesses), Future Unicorns (technology and innovative startups), SDG Dragons (projects focused on sustainable development goals). Among the teams that participated, there were 7 teams with a leader young scientist or PhD student from BAS. At a special ceremony held on April 23, 2025 at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Bulgarian National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science awarded diplomas for the most successful projects reported in 2024. Of the 22 awarded projects, 13 are by scientists from BAS. Two projects were awarded for each of the scientific fields, and their leaders were honoured with diplomas. For a project within international cooperation - contracts for national co-funding of COST Actions and bilateral agreements, a diploma was awarded to Prof. DSc. The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva met today at BAS with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany H. E. Irene Maria Plank. During the meeting, the relations between the two countries in the field of science were discussed as well as the long-standing successful cooperation with the German scientific research community. Opportunities for expanding the partnership with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and for organizing joint events aimed at promoting scientific contacts between young Bulgarian and German scientists were discussed. H.E. Irene Maria Plank expressed her interest and willingness to visit BAS units in different scientific fields.

Intermediate stage of the implementation of the research project "Adaptation of the labour market in the conditions of euro area membership: socio-economic dynamics, technological modernisation, demographic changes and educational restructuring" were reported at the Economic Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It is funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund at the Ministry of Education and Science and is implemented jointly by ERI at BAS, the lead organization SU "St. Kliment Ohridski" and the University of Reading in the UK.   On 03.04.2025, Dr. Totka Grigorova from the Cyrillo-Methodian Research Center at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences gave a lecture on "The Images of Cyril and Methodius - Memory Through the Centuries" to students and lecturers at the University of Messina (Italy). The seminar was organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marco Scarpa from the Department of Ancient and Modern Civilizations of the University of Messina.  The lecture was supported by the ERASMUS+ programme.
