International Conference of the Institute for Bulgarian Language “Prof. Lyubomir Andreichin”

On 15 May 2022, in the building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was opened the International Jubilee Conference of the Institute for Bulgarian Language "Prof. Lyubomir Andreichin", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Institute. Official guests were the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mrs. Iliana Iotova, His Excellency Mr. Maciej Szymański, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Bulgaria. Alsao present were Corr. Two young scientists with awards from Sofia Electrochemical Days SED`22

Research Assistant Dr. Krum Banov and Senior Assistant Dr. Borislava Mladenova from IEES-BAS are the winners of the competition for young scientists, which was held within Sofia Electrochemical Days SED `22. Krum Banov won the award for the best oral presentation and Borislava Mladenova made the best poster presentation. The prizes were awarded by the chairman of the international jury Prof. DSc Eng. Martin Bojinov from UCTM-Sofia. The two young scientists received award plaques, diplomas from IEES-BAS and a one-time financial incentive from UCTM-Sofia. Sofia Electrochemical Days SED`22 were opened on 11 May by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy. 100 years since the birth of acad. Evgeni Budevski

Scientists from the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems (IEES) celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder and patron of the Institute, Acad. Evgeni Budevski. The memorial session was attended by several generations of close colleagues and collaborators, friends and followers of the eminent scientist-electrochemist. The most outstanding scientific achievements of the long-standing Director of IEES and memories of his inspiring personality were recalled. The participants in the celebration were addressed by the brother of Acad. Budevski - Prof. Dr. Omurtag Budevski and his nephew Flotilla Admiral Prof. Dr. Boyan Mednikarov, Rector of “Nikola Vaptsarov” Naval Academy. BAS with participation in European Night of Museums – Sofia 2022

The Museums of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will participate in the initiative "European Night of Museums - Sofia 2022", which will take place on 14 May, Saturday. The organisers are the Embassy of the French Republic, the French Institute in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Culture and Sofia Municipality. In the auditorium of the National Museum of Anthropology at IEMPAM - BAS will be presented a series of popular science talks on interesting and socially significant anthropological and medical issues. Scientists will perform measurements to determine anthropological type and flat-foot in children. Guided tours will be organised for the guests in the renovated permanent exhibition of the National Museum of Anthropology. International Symposium on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine

BioBlitz survey on invasive alien species (IAS) will be conducted on 21 May 2022, in the region of Pancharevo Lake, Sofia Municipality. The survey has been organised at European level under the COST Action CA17122 Increasing understanding of alien species through citizen science (Alien CSI) (https://iasbioblitz.creaf.cat/). Fish Migration Day will be celebrated as an accompanying event. Fish sampling methods will be demonstrated to the participants and they will be informed about the direct and indirect threats to native ichthyofauna arising from changed hydromorphological conditions and other human impact, including invasive alien species. European perspective on good neighbourly relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia
