Corresponding Member Prof. Ilza Pajeva with an Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany

The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (“Das Verdienstkreuz am Bande”) was awarded to Corr.-Mem. Prof. Ilza Pajeva who was also honorary member of the Humboldt Union in Bulgaria. The ceremony took place on 9 July at the residence of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Christoph Eichhorn. The event was attended by the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS, and the Vice-President, Corr.-Mem. Vassil Nikolov, the President of HUB Prof. Lora Taseva and other representatives of the leadership of HUB. Award of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS for high achievements for 2020

With the Award for Excellence in Mathematics for 2020, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS (IMI) honors Greta Panova, Associate Professor at the University of Southern California. The award will be presented during the international conference “Mathematics Days of in Sofia” in 2021. The winner of the award is determined by an international jury of prominent world experts in the field of mathematics. The IMI Mathematics Prize is awarded to Bulgarian citizens up to the age of 40. For the first time, the winner is a woman. So far, the award has been presented in 2014 and 2017 at the conference “Mathematics Days in Sofia” (MDS). International Scientific Conference “Computational Linguistics in Bulgaria”

On 25 and 26 June 2020, the fourth edition of the International Scientific Conference “Computational Linguistics in Bulgaria” took place (CLIB 2020: https://dcl.bas.bg/clib/). Prof. Evelina Slavcheva is the new Chairperson of the General Assembly of BAS

Gained Independence – Polish and Bulgarian Perspectives in Volume XXXV of the Bulletin of the Institute for Historical Studies

All-focus Volume XXXV of the Bulletin of the Institute for Historical Studies has been published. The collection contains materials from the Polish-Bulgarian scientific conference held in November 2018 at BAS on the topic: "The gained independence - Polish and Bulgarian perspectives". The organizers of the forum were: the Institute for Historical Studies at BAS, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bulgaria and the Polish Institute in Sofia. The event was held as part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland's independence and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
