The Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry is participating in a project for development of materials for clean technologies

The Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of BAS (IGIC – BAS) is a beneficiary of the project “European Twinning on Materials Chemistry Enabling Clean Technologies”, acronym TwinTeam under contract №Д01-272 / 02.10.2020. The project is for a period of two years (2020-2022) and started on 02.10.2020. The funding is under the National Program “European Scientific Networks” of the Ministry of Education and Science, adopted by Decision № 5578 / 06.08.2020 of the Council of Ministers. The program enables IGIC to implement the project, which was highly praised by independent experts of the European Commission in the competition “Twinning” of the Framework Program for Research and Innovation of the European Union “Horizon 2020”. The Dimitar Kovachev Palaeontological Museum, a branch of the National Museum of Natural History-BAS, turned 30 years old

The palaeontological branch of NMNHS-BAS https://www.nmnhs.com/palaeontological-museum-in… was established in February 1990 with a tripartite agreement between BAS, NMNHS-BAS and the municipality of Asenovgrad at the initiative of Prof. Nikolai Spassov, then research associate at the museum. The basis was the unique collection by students from the high school in Asenovgrad who under the guidance of biology teacher Dimitar Kovachev participated in palaeontological expeditions, supported by the local municipality. The collection was initially stored in the high school of the city, and when the museum was established it became part of the collections of NMNHS-BAS and was moved to the building provided by the municipality as a branch of the museum. Three women scientists with a prize of 5 000 euros for projects to protect the Black Sea, cleaner air and the birth of stars

The talented Bulgarian women were awarded under the program “For Women in Science” by L’Oréal and UNESCO Dr. Iskra Koleva, Dr. Radoslava Bekova and Lyubov Georgieva are this year’s recipients of the national fellowship “For Women in Science” for Bulgaria. The prestigious award was given to them for their innovative scientific ideas at an official online ceremony today with the special participation of Mrs. Iliana Iotova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria and Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia Municipality.
