Study reveals in detail the quiet Sun at low frequencies Calibrated interferometric images of the quiet solar corona on 07.08.2021 in low frequencies (24.60-78.90 MHz) observed by LOFAR. The Sun is an active star that has significant radio emission over a wide frequency range from kHz to THz, and the solar atmosphere has a complex distribution of magnetic field, plasma density and temperature. These different properties of the solar atmosphere lead to different radio emission characteristics at different frequencies. Interferometric imaging observations of solar low-frequency emission can help diagnose the properties of the plasma at high altitudes in the solar atmosphere. Dr. Ivalina Trendafilova is the winner of the National Award “13 Centuries of Bulgaria” for Young Talents in Contemporary Art and Science 2022

The award ceremony of the National Prize "13 of Centuries Bulgaria" for young talents in contemporary art and science took place on 1 July 2022 in the Ballroom of the Palace - National Gallery. The Prize is awarded every two years by the National Endowment Fund "13 Centuries of Bulgaria" for innovative achievements and postgraduate studies in European higher education institutions. The distinction in the second edition of the competition was awarded to Dr. Ivalina Trendafilova. She obtained her PhD at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Namur, Belgium. Second information day on the project “Centre of Competence HITMOBIL”

The Second Information Day of the “Centre of Competence HITMOBIL” Project, held on 21 June, brought together representatives of the project partners, the Managing Authority and businesses interested in the field of electrochemical systems for green energy. Corr. Mem. Evelina Slavcheva, Head of CoC HITMOBIL, presented the overall progress in the implementation of the three modules of the project: M1 - Industrial Research, M2 - Experimental Development and M3 - Dissemination and Technology Transfer. Awards for young scientists from BAS in Scientific Poster Session of UCTM

On June 17, 2022 at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy was held XIX Scientific Poster Session for Young Scientists, Doctoral Students and Students. This year's edition was attended by 120 young scientists, PhD students and students with 130 posters in 10 different scientific fields. With the opening of the scientific session, the prize was awarded in the National Competition "Outstanding Young Scientist in the Field of Organic Chemistry" named after Academician Ivan Juhnovski organized by the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM) and the Union of Chemists in Bulgaria. Third scientific conference “Innovative low-toxic biologically active systems for precision medicine (BioActiveMed)”

The scientific conference was held from 13 to 16 June 2022 at Park-Hotel Kyustendil within the framework of the National Scientific Programme "Innovative low-toxic biologically active substances for precision medicine (BioActiveMed)", with the leading organization Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science. More than 55 scientists participated and presented their interdisciplinary research conducted at seven institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and five universities. The papers were divided into six scientific sessions which presented results on the preparation of new biologically active systems containing extracts from natural sources of plant or animal origin from Bulgaria, their antibacterial and antitumor activity, as well as their anti-infective effect. Meeting of the European Academies’ Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC)

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, and the Scientific Secretaries of BAS Assoc. Prof. Ina Aneva and Prof. Denitsa Borisova participated in a meeting of the European Academies’ Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC) on 8-10 June 2022 near the city of Prague, Czech Republic. The theme for the exchange of experiences among EASAC member academies was "How can we best use our experience for future science-based advice?
