Four new full members (academicians) in the field of biological and engineering sciences have been elected today by the Assembly of Academicians of BAS. No academician has been elected in the scientific area of Earth Sciences. In the Biological Sciences Branch, the following have been elected academicians: Academician Rumen Georgiev Pankov. He was born in 1955. He is a world-renowned scientist in the field of cell and molecular biology. He works at the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Sofia, 20-22 October 2021 The Seventeenth International Scientific Conference "Space-Ecology-Safety SES 2021", dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first human space flight and the 40th anniversary of the scientific programme for the satellites "Bulgaria 1300", was held at the Space Research and Technology Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SRTI-BAS). Honorary Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference was the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, and chairman was Corr. Mem. Prof. Peter Getsov. In the Scientific Programme Committee, there were also representatives of Russia, France, Greece, Czech Republic, Italy, England, Netherlands, Egypt and Poland.
