The number of researchers of BAS included in the top 2% of the world’s top scientists in the Stanford rankings is growing

Forty-one scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and another 7 members of the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members who work in universities are among the top two percent of top scientists in the world, according to Stanford University's career-long impact ranking published recently. In the Stanford rankings published in 2020, scientists working at BAS were 25. Now their number is 41 which unequivocally shows the high standing of Academy researchers among the global scientific community and their leading role in world science. A total of 73 researchers from Bulgaria from different fields of science have found a place in the ranking of the American university. The competition for the election of academicians and corresponding members of BAS has ended

 The Assembly of Academicians has elected today new Corresponding Members in the fields of Arts and Art Studies.   Arts and Art Studies Branch Department of Arts Corresponding Member Georgi Gospodinov Georgiev Born in 1968. He is a poet, writer and literary scholar. He is the author of more than 15 books in various genres - poetry, short stories, novels, plays, librettos for opera, studies of the recent past, film scripts. Newly elected Corresponding Members of BAS

The Assembly of Academicians has elected today new Corresponding Members in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Agricultural and Forestry Sciences. Humanities and Social Sciences Branch Humanities Corresponding Member Ivan Dinev Roussev, DSc Born in 1963. He is a scientist of international renown.  His main scientific field is the economic history of Bulgaria. He also works on the diplomatic history of the Black Sea and the Balkans (18th-19th centuries) and studies the European consular presence in the region.  His attention is mainly drawn to the French economy. The focus of his research is the economic history of the transition from the late Middle Ages to the modern era in the Bulgarian lands. Prof. Roussev works at the University of Economics in Varna.
