Prof. Julian Revalski spoke with the Ambassador of Turkey H.E. Aylin Sekizkök

The cooperation between Bulgarian and Turkish scientists was discussed at a meeting of the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria H.E. Aylin Sekizkök. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences works within the framework of bilateral agreements with two Turkish scientific organizations: TÜBİTAK – the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and TÜBA – the Turkish Academy of Sciences. Meeting of Corr. Mem. Pasheva with Prof. Imasiku Nyambe

The Vice-President of BAS Corr. Mem. Evdokia Pasheva met with Prof. Imasiku Nyambe, Vice-President of the Zambia Academy of Sciences. Prof. Nyambe is visiting Bulgaria on the occasion of the XXII Congress of the Carpathian-Balkan Geological Association, which will be held from 6 to 11 September in Plovdiv. Corr. Mem. Pasheva presented the experience of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the field of international cooperation and the main moments of the history of the oldest institution in modern Bulgaria. The opportunities for Bulgarian scientists to participate in scientific activities in Zambia were discussed. The meeting was attended by Acad. Ivan Zagorchev and Prof. Irena Peytcheva, representative of the organizing committee of the Carpathian-Balkan Geological Association 2022.

Digitalization and innovation in the field of cultural heritage

The main activities of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences related to the digitalization of cultural heritage were presented by the Vice-President of BAS, Corresponding Member Vassil Nikolov, at an international video conference on the problems of digitalization and innovation in the field of cultural heritage. BAS is emerging as the largest entity in the country in this area, said Corresponding Member Vassil Nikolov, after acquainting the participants in the event, broadcast online, with specific projects for the work of scientists from the humanities institutes of the Academy, three academic museums, the Scientific Archive and the Central Library of BAS, as well as the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics. Exhibition “Clothing and Linguistic Treasure” in the National Ethnographic Museum

The exhibition "Clothing and Linguistic Treasure" in the National Ethnographic Museum is open to visitors until 15 August 2020. The opening took place on 16 June, in Hall 11. The exhibition is part of the scientific project "Local production, clothing and linguistic treasure (contribution to historical linguistics and anthropology of dress)". The project aims to study and publish in electronic form little-known archival documents from 1888 and 1889, stored in the Scientific Archive of BAS. They are over 1 100 pages of handwritten descriptions of clothing and about 150 photographs taken specifically to show some of the clothing. Exhibitions of the Institute of Balkan Studies & Centre of Thracology in Sofia and Plovdiv

The exhibition "MAN-NATURE-CULTURE: ANCIENT THRACIA AND MEDIEVAL BULGARIA" was opened on 10 June 2020 in the Ancient Cultural-Communication Complex "Serdika", "Largo" area, located under the "Independence" square. It is carried out by the Institute of Balkan Studies & Centre of Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences together with the Regional History Museum - Sofia. Its authors are Prof. Valeria Fol and Chief Assistant Professor Ruja Popova, PhD from IBCT-BAS, and Chief Assistant Professor Oleg Konstantinov, PhD from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”. The National Assembly approved the annual report of BAS for 2019

The National Assembly approved the annual report of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for 2019 at today's plenary session. The President of BAS, Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, presented the activity of BAS during the past year to the deputies. BAS strengthens its role as a leading scientific institution - over 50% of the referenced scientific articles according to Web of Science for 2019 are of researchers from the Academy, highlighted Prof. Revalski and said that there was stability of the scientific results of the researchers from BAS which were also aimed at their direct application in practice.
