Experts from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Huawei discussed trust in the digital world

A panel discussion on the topic "Trust in the digital world" was held on September 27 at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, together with the technology company Huawei Technologies Bulgaria. During the discussion, experts shared experiences and knowledge on topics related to trust in the digital world, proactive identification of future cyber threats, biometrically secured community resource sharing, the digital future with artificial intelligence and data management, "smart" cities, infrastructure for high performance computing. Unveiling of a bust-monument to the composer Acad. Petko Staynov

Bust-monument of the composer Acad. Petko Staynov was unveiled yesterday on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the great Bulgarian composer. The monument is located in the Alley of Artists in the Borisova Gradina park. The authors of the project are the sculptor Prof. Valentin Startchev, artist Kamen Startchev and arch. Ivan Avramov. The official event was attended by the Vice-President of BAS Corr. Mem. Evdokia Pasheva, the Minister of Culture in the Caretaker Government Velislav Minekov, representatives of the Union of Bulgarian Composers, the Union of the Blind in Bulgaria, musicians, scientists and citizens. Exhibition “See the Unseen: The Dawn of Humanity”

At 18:00 on 20.09.2022 at the National Museum of Natural History of BAS was opened the exhibition "See the Unseen: The Dawn of Humanity" with the author of the scientific concept Prof. Nikolai Spassov. The exposition is the second of a series of temporary exhibitions presenting previously unseen specimens from the scientific collections of the National Museum of Natural History-BAS. It is related to the paleoanthropological discoveries made in our country and in the Balkans in the last 15 years - findings that change our perceptions of the first steps of humanity - both those of the pre-humans standing at the beginning of the human evolutionary line, and of the first modern humans inhabiting Europe. Prof. Julian Revalski visited Provadia-Solnitsa

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, visited today the prehistoric salt-mining and urban center Provadia-Solnitsa, studied this year by a team of the National Archaeological Institute and Museum of BAS and the Historical Museum in Provadia under the leadership of Acad. Vassil Nikolov. The guest was acquainted with the new results of the excavation of structures from the 6th and 5th millennium BC, the conservation and restoration activities and the socialisation of the monument. Acad. Nikolov regretted the lack of a clear state strategy regarding the financing of the study and conservation of the archaeological heritage in Bulgaria, which was expressed in the last year also in the unacceptable delay in the implementation of the relevant supporting state programmes. A delegation from Turkey’s Çankırı Karatekin University visited the Institute of Electronics

A delegation from the Turkish University Çankırı Karatekin, led by the Rector Prof. Harun Çifçi, visited the laboratories of the Institute of Electronics of BAS and got acquainted with the latest scientific achievements of Bulgarian researchers. Director Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Kutsarova presented the activities and the coordinators of the scientific teams at the Institute. The possibilities were discussed for cooperation in the field of new materials and coatings, methods and technologies in the field of materials science, electron-beam technologies, remote sensing of the atmosphere and non-linear optics with applications in industry, biomedicine and the environment, on which the scientists of the Institute of Electronics are working.
