The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, presented Prof. Diana Petkova with the Honorary Medal of BAS "Marin Drinov on a Ribbon". The distinction is awarded for significant scientific achievements in the field of biochemistry and biophysics, for her multifaceted public, organizational and expert activities to raise the authority of Bulgarian science and on the occasion of her 70th anniversary. The Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research with a plaquette for long-term cooperation

The Regional Historical Museum - Blagoevgrad celebrated its 70th anniversary. At the opening of the exhibition prepared on this occasion, the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research of BAS was awarded with an honorary plaquette and a diploma for many years of fruitful cooperation and development of the palaeobotanical collection of the museum. For nearly a decade, scientists from the Palaeobotany and Palynology Section at IBER (Assoc. Professor Vladimir Bozukov, Corresponding Member Dimiter Ivanov) have been working together with the team of the Nature Department at RHM - Blagoevgrad, both in the field and in the design of exhibitions with plant fossils or temporary exhibitions. Academician Vassil Nikolov awarded with the Honorary Medal of BAS “Marin Drinov on a Ribbon”

Academician Vassil Nikolov was awarded with the honorary medal of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences "Marin Drinov on a ribbon". The award was given by the President of the Academy Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member (Academician) of BAS during a ceremony held on November 8. BAS is awarding Acad. Nikolov for his outstanding contribution to the development of Bulgarian archaeology, as an established authority in European prehistoric science and in connection with his 70th anniversary, announced the President of BAS. President’s Honorary Badge for Prof. Diana Petkova

Meeting of Corr. Member Pasheva with Prof. Brian Kennedy

The Vice President of BAS Prof. Evdokia Pasheva met with Professor Brian Kennedy from the National University of Singapore. Prof. Kennedy was accompanied by the Rector of the Medical University of Sofia Acad. Latchezar Traykov and the Vice Rector Assoc. Tsvetalina Tankova. Prof. Brian Kennedy today was awarded by the Medical University of Sofia with the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa. Prof. Kennedy is a pioneer in understanding the biology of aging and longevity, translating research findings into new ways to slow down, prevent and treat human aging and related diseases. Golden Century Awards for Scientists of BAS

Photo: MC Three scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences have been awarded the "Golden Century" awards of the Ministry of Culture for their contribution to the development and popularization of Bulgarian culture. Corr. Mem. Prof. Plamen Markov was awarded the "Golden Century - Pendant", Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov and Assoc. Prof. Hristo Popov received the "Golden Century - Star" award. The awards were presented by the Deputy Ministers of Culture Prof. Dr. Borislava Taneva and Assoc. Prof. Plamen Slavov at a ceremony held on the Day of National Enlighteners.
