The exhibition „First impression is from your clothes…“ is in Vienna on the occasion of 3 March

Exhibits of the National Ethnographic Museum are in Wittgenstein House on the occasion of the National Day of Bulgaria On the eve and on the occasion of the National Day of Bulgaria, on 3 March 2020, the exhibition "First impression is from your clothes..." was opened in Wittgenstein House in Vienna. It was part of the program to mark 142 years since the Liberation of Bulgaria. A special guest of the event was our country's ambassador to Austria, H.E. Dr. Ivan Sirakov. The National Ethnographic Museum - Sofia presented costumes and jewelry from its collection and aquarelles of the artist Evgenia Lepavtsova. The Academies of Sciences of Bulgaria and Romania with 40 joint projects in 2020

The cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania in the field of science and culture was discussed at a meeting in BAS by the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Julian Revalski, full member of the Academy, and the Ambassador of Romania to Bulgaria, H.E. Ion Gâlea. The academies of sciences of the two countries have been linked since their inception - in 1866, the Romanian Academy was established, and three years later, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was founded in the city of Braila. Scientists from both academies work together on scientific projects, with a total number of projects expected to exceed 40 in 2020.

Prof. Gérard Mourou: The power of the extreme-light laser is 1000 times bigger than the power of the world energy network

The laser with ultra-high intensity pulses is 1000 times more powerful than the World Energy Network. This was said by the Nobel Prize winner in Physics 2018, Professor Gérard Mourou, during his lecture. Laboratories for the digitization of cultural heritage are being built by IEFSEM

Two digitalization laboratories will be set up at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum of BAS which participates in the “Heritage BG” Center of Excellence. The “Digital Ethnographic Archive” laboratory will digitize photographs, sketches, drawings and documents collected in the Institute’s descriptive anthropology archive since 1906. Their digitization will provide easy and quick access to them by scientists and society. At the same time, valuable historical and ethnographic artifacts will be stored under the necessary conditions to preserve them, without difficulty in handling the information contained therein. “Bulgarian Archaeology 2019” – results of the most active archaeological year in the last two decades

On 14 February 2020, the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM at BAS) presented the thirteenth national archaeological exhibition “Bulgarian Archaeology 2019”. By tradition, the exhibition presents the most interesting finds and a wealth of illustrative material from the fieldwork of Bulgarian archaeologists in the previous year. The opening ceremony was attended by Amelia Gesheva, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, Assoc. Prof. Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Prof. Julian Revalski, full member of the Academy and President of BAS, Corr.-Mem. The Korean Development Center (KDI) which is a partner of the Economic Research Institute of BAS under 3 international projects has been recognized as a leading think tank in the world. This is indicated by the University of Pennsylvania ranking Global Go To Think Tank Index Report (TTCSP) on think tanks and civil societies in 2019 which involved a total of 8248 institutions.
