Copernicus Hackathon – Sofia 2020

Copernicus Hackathon - Sofia 2020, which is part of the European Copernicus program, as been running since 24 April. The event is being held for the second time since the successful 2019 edition, and this year, due to COVID-19, it is being held online. A donation of BGN 50 000 to BAS for research on COVID-19

A donation of BGN 50 000 for research by the scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the fight against coronavirus was made by Delyan Peevski, MP from the “Movement for Rights and Freedoms”. The donation received will be earmarked for the “Science against COVID-19” project proposed by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The project envisages the accomplishment of important scientific and applied tasks related to the diagnosis, treatment and creation of coronavirus vaccines. There is no risk of radioactive exposure of the people in Bulgaria because of forest fires in the Chernobyl area

A unique Machairodus skull, described by French and Bulgarian scientists, contributes to the study of the emblematic cat
